Benefits of an Uncontested Divorce

During a divorce there are many issues that will need to be addressed: child custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, property division, and more.  When the parties in a divorce are able to mutually agree on these issues, it is referred to as an uncontested divorce.  The opposite of an uncontested divorce is a contested divorce.  In these types of  cases, the parties are unable to agree upon the various marital issues of their divorce. 

There are a number of reasons why an uncontested divorce is by far more favorable than a contested divorce.  First and foremost, an uncontested divorce will save you both time and money in the long run.  The longer it takes for the parties to settle their divorce, the more expensive it will be, as court costs and attorney fees can rise quickly.  Because parties in an uncontested divorce are able to put aside their differences in order to resolve the terms of their divorce, the process moves along smoothly without any interruptions.  In a contested divorce, however, it could take months for the parties to reach agreements, especially when constant fighting, bickering and name calling comes in to play.

People engaged in an uncontested divorce also encounter less stress and anxiety.  Incessant fighting, arguing, etc. can lead to high levels of stress, frustration, and even cause someone to have an emotional breakdown.
