Flavor Flav Accused of Not Paying Child Support
Rapper and realty TV star Flavor Flav has been accused of owning more than $63,000 in child support to the mother of three of his children.
The
New York Post reported that Flavor Flav, whose real name is William Jonathan Drayton, Jr., owes Mary Parker $63,458 in past-due child support for their three children.
In July 2008, Parker amended the couple’s child support arrangement since the original arrangement only covered two of their children. In January, she won an appeal to increase her weekly child support payments from $117 to $837.72, plus costs for their children’s tuition at private school.
Flav maintains that he has been making payments towards the kids tuition and to Parker, and said he will certainly address January’s ruling.
This isn’t the first time Flav is reported to have fallen behind on his child support obligations. In 2009 one of his daughters made a similar claim, as did another woman with whom Flav has three kids with.
Anytime a parent falls behind in making their child support payments, it’s important to take the appropriate steps to catch up. When child support debt gets too high, the state will start taking measures to recuperate the money, such as garnishing your wages, withholding your tax return, or refusing to let you renew your driver’s license.
